C’est fait!

French Laundry, grain sack and linen collections of decor are popping up everywhere. I love the look and have been crazy over it for a long time, which is why it’s weird for me to see it gracing the pages of national retailer catalogs like Restoration Hardware… I have had clients ask me how long it will be “in style”. Of course my thoughts with “in style” are, if you love it- it doesn’t matter if it’s in or it’s out. If you enjoy it, it’s in for you.

That being said, I think this style of decorating and furnishings will be around for awhile. It will be more than 5 years from now before people start to “redo”. In fact, I think it will be a good 7 years before we see this begin to fade in the US.

You may be asking yourself, “how can I get this look into my home without redoing everything?’ Take a look around and see where you have busy patterns or loud colors. Tame these down with a fresh coat of airy paint, slipcovers, and new pillows. Add in some rustic touches with a couple of reclaimed wood pieces of decor or furniture. If you want to take it a step further, swap out rugs for neutral natural fiber or grounded natural color.

If you have a project that you are struggling with, email me with pictures!

You can buy just about anything in this style at RH. Just look (all from http://www.restorationhardware.com):

I do love color and pattern and the unexpected. I thought this collection from Calico Corners (www.Calicocorners.com)  would add a lovely dimension to this mix:

They also carry a French Laundry line if you are looking for a very casual, lofty feel with a touch more cheer:

Pillows can change a room, but USE them! Make sure they are down and don’t throw them to the side when you sit on the sofa! Dig into them, make them beautiful and add comfort to your home. Here are some pillows that I love:

Most of all, have fun and create a space that you LOVE to live in!

Cheers,

j
